What your ukulele lessons cover
Every lesson is one-to-one and planned around the songs you want to play. Complete beginners usually start the same way: a handful of open chords, a simple strumming pattern and a song to put them together. It doesn’t take long before you’re changing chords in time and playing tunes you recognise.
From there, lessons cover new chords and smoother changes, different strumming rhythms, fingerpicking and picking out melodies. If you like to sing, your teacher can help you play and sing at the same time.
Your teacher will also show you how to tune your ukulele and how to practise well between lessons. A little regular practice at home makes a big difference, and short, frequent sessions work better than one long one.
A great first instrument
The ukulele is small, light and has just four nylon strings, which are gentle on fingertips. That makes it one of the easiest instruments to get started on, and progress comes quickly with regular practice. It’s also a good stepping stone to guitar, as many of the chord shapes carry over.
Ukulele lessons for children
The ukulele suits small hands, so it’s often a child’s first proper instrument. Lessons are practical and song-based, with short goals that make practice at home feel worthwhile rather than a chore. There’s free parking at the rear of the building for drop-off and pick-up.
Ukulele lessons for adults
Many adults pick up the ukulele because they want something relaxing and sociable to play, or a simple way to accompany their own singing. It’s ideal if you’ve never played an instrument before. Evening slots run until 9:30pm, Monday to Thursday, so lessons fit around work.
No ukulele yet?
You don’t need one to start. We have ukuleles here you can use during your lessons, so you can try before you buy. When you’re ready, your teacher can point you towards a good beginner instrument, and entry-level ukuleles are inexpensive.
Learn for fun, at your own pace
There’s no fixed syllabus unless you want one. Some students come along purely to enjoy playing songs, others want a clear plan with steady goals. Your teacher will shape lessons around whichever suits you.
